Our Health and Safety Plan

HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT PLAN

DEFINING OUR HSE GOALS

  • Zero Harm or Injury - Our Goal
  • MFML HSE Policy - Our Commitment
  • MFML HSE Manual - Our Standards
  • Site practices & procedures - Our Action

As a responsible corporate member of the community, MFML is committed to continually looking for ways to improve our performance while meeting the quality and service expectations of our customers. MFML is committed to the principle of sustainable development and recognizes its responsibilities to the environment and to the communities in which it operates.

To carry out this commitment, we:

o Set objectives of zero harm or injury to our employees our neighbors

o Establish and maintain structured HSE management systems to provide a framework for continued performance monitoring and improvement;

o Provide support and training for line management to assist them in their responsibilities of ensuring a safe workplace and protecting the environment;

o Ensure a culture of responsibility and accountability of our employees by training and awareness raising so that each understands HSE considerations and incorporates them into their decisions and daily activities;

o Encourage open, honest and responsive communication of HSE matters with our employees, our neighbours, the community, customers, consumers, public interest groups and the government;

o Expect the same commitment of our contractors and suppliers with regard to these HSE commitments as we have made ourselves;

o Meet or exceed all local HSE regulatory requirements with respect to our operations and our discharges to air, land and water, and apply the MFML Corporate Standards universally;

o Minimize the impact of our activities by, wherever practicable, designing out hazards and minimizing the volume of wastes generated.

At MFML we firmly believe that all incidents and injuries are preventable. This has led to the development of an overall Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) goal of zero harm or injury as a result of our operations.

The MFML HSE policy is our formal commitment to this goal and outlines the key initiatives required to deliver it. This guide is designed to offer a summary of how these commitments are translated into specific workplace actions. In particular it explains the structure and content of the HSE Manual and the importance of integrating its principles into day-to-day site practices and procedures.

Consequently, MFML provides a systematic pro-active approach to property management and maintenance and had, as a matter of principle, evolved an HSE policy by which it is committed to:

• Ensuring the use of only competent personnel for maintenance services, thereby eliminating accidents caused by ineffective repairs.

• Promoting a healthy environment within its area of operation for the tenants, employees and other stakeholders.

• Identifying and creating awareness of hazards within its estates and ensuring that control measures to reduce the hazards are put in place.

• Continually assessing and seeking ways to improve HSE performance.

• Preserving the integrity of the environment within its area of influence.
